DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPION CENTRAL OKLAHOMA

PICKED TO FINISH FIRST IN WCHL PRESEASON COACHES’ POLL

 

OKLAHOMA CITY, Sept. 17, 2017 – The University of Central Oklahoma, the 2016-2017 ACHA M1 National Champion, has been selected by the Western Collegiate Hockey League coaches as the preseason favorite to win the WCHL in 2017-2018.

 

In this season’s WCHL Preseason Coaches’ Poll, Central Oklahoma received 62 of 64 possible points and was selected by six WCHL head coaches to finish in first place.  The Bronchos have won the WCHL in the past two seasons.

 

The University of Colorado finished second to UCO in the WCHL balloting, with 53 points and the two remaining first-place votes.  Arizona State University finished third in the poll with 49 points while the University of Oklahoma was slotted in the fourth position with 34 points.  The University of Arizona finished fifth in the poll with 29 points.  Colorado State University received 25 points to finish sixth in the poll while Missouri State University was one point behind in seventh with 24 points.  The University of Arkansas rounded out the poll at number eight with 12 points.
