BUFFS PICKED TO FINISH FIRST IN WCHL PRESEASON COACHES’ POLL
OKLAHOMA CITY, Sept. 14, 2016 – The University of Colorado has been selected by the Western Collegiate Hockey League coaches as the preseason favorite to win the WCHL in 2016-2017.
In this season’s WCHL Preseason Coaches’ Poll, Colorado received 58 of 64 possible points and was selected by five WCHL head coaches to finish in first place. The University of Central Oklahoma finished a close second to CU in the WCHL balloting, only one point behind the Buffs at 57. UCO also received three first place votes.
The University of Oklahoma finished third in the poll with 41 points while The University of Arizona was slotted in the fourth position with 32 points. Arizona State University returns to the WCHL after a one-year hiatus and finished fifth in the poll with 30 points.
Missouri State University is right behind ASU in the sixth spot with 29 points. The University of Arkansas finished seventh in the poll with 24 points. Colorado State University rounded out the poll at number eight with 17 points.
